Butterfly Release
-
Mrs. Harris' Kindergarten class at Westernport Elementary released more butterflies this year. Mrs. Harris began finding the monarch caterpillars in June, which turned out to be a very good season for the monarchs. The students in her kindergarten class complete a variety of activities about the life cycle of the butterflies and then have an opportunity to visit the science center where they can observe the monarch butterflies in all stages of their life cycle from the egg to the butterfly. Additionally, prior to the most recent butterfly release, the students had the chance to plant flower bulbs in a small garden area at the school.
