The Maryland Infants and Toddlers Program is a statewide program that provides many different types of early intervention services to infants and toddlers with special needs and their families. In Allegany County, the Allegany County Public Schools system is the lead agency responsible for the Early Intervention Program.
The mission of the Allegany County Public Schools Infants and Toddlers Program is to provide family centered early intervention services for children birth to three years with developmental delays, disabilities or special health needs.
To be eligible for our services a child must be between the ages of birth to three, reside in Allegany County and meet one of the following criteria:
If you have concerns or questions about typical development in children from birth to age 3, please call the Infants and Toddlers office or review the developmental milestone links found under the Parent Information section.
- Has a 25% or greater delay in any area of development;
Is developing in a way that is considered “atypical” for most children his or her age or;
Has a diagnosed condition that is likely to effect development
Most children are referred by their families and pediatricians, but referrals are also received by child care providers or concerned friends or neighbors. Anyone who is concerned about the development of a child can make a referral to the Infants and Toddlers Program any of the following ways:
