Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), public schools are required to identify, locate, and evaluate all children who may have disabilities and need special education services. This process, known as Child Find, applies to children ages birth through 21, regardless of whether they are enrolled in public school, private school, or are homeschooled.
If you suspect your child may have a disability and could benefit from special education services, you can make a referral by contacting your child’s school directly or calling the Allegany County Public Schools Central Office at 301-759-2065.
