SECAC
-
Allegany County Public Schools has a Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC) that meets quarterly. The purpose of the committee is for parents, community agency employees and staff to act in an advisory capacity to the special education department on issues relevant to special education. Click HERE to visit the SECAC page. The page contains the minutes from each SECAC meeting and the documents discussed. In the upper left-hand corner of the page is a link where parents can leave feedback regarding meeting content.
The next meeting is Monday, June 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting. To join this meeting, please contact Teresa Dunlap, SECAC secretary, before 11am the day of the meeting, at 301-759-2065 or teresa.dunlap@acpsmd.org
During this time of virtual learning, parents of students receiving special education services are reminded that if they have concerns or questions about their child's services, they should contact either the special education teacher or a facilitator at their child's school. Changes in a child's special education program can only come through the IEP meeting process. Questions and concerns can also be addressed to the school administrator, or the special education department.
