Dr. Michael J. Martirano Named New Superintendent of Allegany County Public Schools
Allegany County Public Schools’ Board of Education has appointed Dr. Michael J. Martirano as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Martirano was born and raised in Allegany County. He grew up in Frostburg and is a graduate of Beall High School. He received his bachelors and masters’ degrees from the University of Maryland and his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. Throughout his career he has worked as a teacher, principal, the Superintendent in St. Mary’s County, MD, the State Superintendent in West Virginia and most recently the Superintendent in Howard County, MD.
The Board will be posting information regarding upcoming meet and greets with Dr. Martirano in the near future.
