CCTE Graduates Compete in National Skills Competition
The annual National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students, was held in Georgia in June, and five recent graduates of the Career Center had the opportunity to compete against more than 6,500 other career and technical education students, all of whom were state contest winners.
During the event, students competed in 108 different hands-on trades, technical, and leadership fields. They had to work against the clock and each other to demonstrate their expertise in occupations including electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.
Mr. Gary Taylor, CCTE carpentry instructor, and Mr. Michael Riggleman, CCTE electrical maintenance instructor, both attended the competition with the students.
SkillsUSA contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, and test competencies that are set by industry standards.
