Mentor MD, DC Hosts MLK Mentoring Challenge for Middle, High School Students
Contest Submissions Due January 10th
The MLK Inspiration Contest, hosted by Mentor Maryland/DC, is open to students in grades 6-12 who attend school in Maryland or the District of Columbia. This challenge is an opportunity for student applicants to work collaboratively with a mentor to reflect on why mentoring is important and how it impacts their communities. The challenge also asks students to discuss how Martin Luther King, Jr. was impacted by his mentors.
Students interested in participating in this challenge are asked to complete the writing prompts with their mentor; however, students may also answer the questions based on any inspiring adult figure. Submissions may be in the form of a written or video essay or can be portrayed with artwork. All entries will be judged based on clarity of concept, understanding of the topic, creativity, and thoughtfulness.
Submissions are due to Mentor Maryland/DC no later than 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2022. Click here to submit work. Challenge winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony on January 16, 2023. For more information, contact Dakotah Shamblin at dshamblin@mentormddc.org.
