    School System Considers Many Factors When Delaying, Closing Schools

    The Allegany County Public School System considers a number of factors when making the decision to delay or close schools.  The first consideration is for the safety of students traveling to and from school, including the outside access to school buildings.

    Board of Education Honors High School Bands for Performances

    At the November 22, 2022, public meeting of the Board of Education, school board members took the opportunity to recognize ACPS high school bands for their exceptional performances at recent competitions. All three band programs earned champion status.

    On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Allegany! Class of 2023 participated in the program’s annual Education Day co-hosted by the Allegany County Public Schools, Allegany College of Maryland, and Frostburg State University.

    Three ACPS Students Win Scholarships at Tri-State College Night

    On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Allegany College of Maryland hosted the annual Tri-State College Night.  More than 60 colleges, universities, technical schools and branches of the military were on hand to help parents and students make educated decisions about post-secondary plans.

    Induction Ceremony of the Allegany High School Chapter of the National Honor Society

    Fifty junior and senior students from Allegany High School were inducted into membership of the National Honor Society (NHS) on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in front of parents, staff, students, and guests.

      Book Fair 2022

      • The Scholastic Book Fair begins Monday, October 27th. Middle School students will shop during their Language Arts classes. Elementary students will have a day to browse and a day to shop. You can add funds to your students e-wallet at scholastic.com/fair or send money with your student on their shopping day.

      Important Announcements

      • Mount Savage Middle School is offering after-school tutoring for students in grades 6-8. During the first marking period, the focus of the tutoring will be to assist students in English language arts and math. Thereafter, the program will expand to other core subjects. Tutoring may occur on campus after school, at a public library, or virtually through Schoology as agreed upon by the parents and tutor. Parents interested in requesting tutoring services may contact Mr. Orndorff, school counselor, at 301-264-3220.
