Congratulations to the Mountain Ridge and Fort Hill Unified Flag Football Teams for winning the inaugural State Championship Gold Medal in their division.

Mountain Ridge had 2 teams, with one team taking Gold and the other team taking Silver. The Mountain Ridge Skills Team also won the gold medal. 

Allegany, Fort Hill and Mt. Ridge participated in the first Maryland Special Olympics Unified 5vs5 Flag Football.  Teams practiced and played throughout the months of September and October with the State tournament being held on November 14, 2023 in Baltimore.   

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for high school students with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
