frozen Shows will Run September 7-8, 21-22; Proceeds to Benefit Trip to Disney

Disney’s worldwide phenomenon is taking Broadway Junior by (snow)storm as the students of the Mountain Ridge High School Performing Arts Parent Association perform Disney’s latest worldwide phenomenon – Frozen Jr., the first licensed production of this world premiere musical in western Maryland.

Frozen Jr. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen Jr. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna (Brielle Windle) and Elsa (Abby McLaughlin). When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen Jr. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Under the direction of Jordan D. Kline, vocal direction by Michaela Hale, choreography by student Allison Clise, set design by Joel Hoover, and costumes by Heidi Gardner, Frozen Jr. comes to The Stage at Mountain Ridge on September 7, 8, 21, and 22 at both 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Note there are no Friday shows.) Tickets are on sale now via https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/34595.

There will be a special “Build Your Own Olaf” pancake breakfast on Saturday, September 7th and Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 9-11 a.m. in the Mountain Ridge Cafeteria for a chance to meet the characters from the show and have pictures taken with them. The cost for tickets to either the shows or the breakfast is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

All proceeds from this specially arranged production and related activities will be used to assist students attending the Mountain Ridge Performing Arts trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida this November. The choir will perform in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, while the marching band will march and play in the Magic Kingdom Parade down Main Street, USA.
