The Mountain Ridge High School Chapter of the National Honor Society recently held its induction ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year welcoming 46 new members to the organization.

The NHS recognizes juniors and seniors who display outstanding accomplishment in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character. Students are required to have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher to be considered to apply for membership into the organization.

The ceremony was held in the school’s theatre under the direction of advisers Mrs. Vicki Hoover and Mr. Todd Logsdon. The program opened with a processional played by Sophia Brill and then Sophia also sang the national anthem. The guest speaker was Mr. Eric Williams, a 2009 graduate of Mountain Ridge who currently works as a physician assistant in structural cardiology at UPMC, Cumberland.

Principal Mr. Danny Carter, Assistant Principal, Mr. James Evans, and Assistant Principal Dr. Alyssa Werner were in attendance. Four candles representing each characteristic of the NHS were lit by officers Gillian Myers, president, scholarship; Sophia Brill, vice-president, service; Audrey McCoy, secretary, leadership; and Emma Oyer, treasurer, character.
