Kennell and Hansrote Recognized at Maryland Association of Student Councils State Convention
The Allegany County Association of Student Councils (ACASC) recently attended the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) State Convention in Ocean City, MD. During the convention, Mrs. Kara Kennell, Service Learning Coordinator for Allegany County Public Schools, was presented with the MASC Karen L. Crawford Regional Advisor of the Year Award.
“I am truly honored to receive the MASC Karen L. Crawford Regional Advisor of the Year Award,” says Mrs. Kennell. “I have the pleasure of working with an amazing group of students, school advisors, and administrators, who I can always count on. We work together as a team, so this award would not be possible without their support and dedication to the students of Allegany County.”
Created in 2018, the MASC Karen L. Crawford Regional Advisor of the Year Award recognizes the contributions regional advisors make not only to their regions, but to students across the state of Maryland.
During the same convention, Student Board Member, Eowyn Hansrote, was recognized for “Outstanding Student Leader” award. The Maryland Association of Student Councils asks each school system to recognize a student who makes a difference through their leadership and extraordinary commitment to improving their school or community while excelling in their academic pursuits.
“Eowyn was the perfect fit for this award,” says Mrs. Kennell. “In addition to being highly involved in our community, she is an exceptional student who is dedicated to her academics in the classroom. She cares about all students and strives to be their best voice, to help them be successful in life.”
