GIANT Company Provides Donation to ACPS Through Feeding School Kids Program

ACPS Giant Donation

Allegany County Public Schools is excited to be the recipient of The GIANT Company’s Feeding School Kids initiative again this year. Through this program, The GIANT Company and community members who shop at select stores help support school districts in addressing childhood hunger throughout their local community.

“We can't wait to see these funds in action and put us one step closer to ending hunger in our communities,” says Lauren Everly, Store Employment Associate.

Shoppers are able to help donate money by rounding up their purchase to the nearest dollar or converting their CHOICE points into a donation for their local public schools’ food program.

"We appreciate the continued support of this program, by both The GIANT Company and the community,” says Todd Lutton, Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services.

Since launching the program in 2021, The GIANT Company and customers have raised more than $7.5 million. This money is used to address the issue of childhood hunger throughout the local public-school districts. School districts that receive donated funds, are able to use them to support meal programs such as: covering outstanding student meal debt, expanding food distribution programs, creating on-campus food pantries, and supplying extra weekend meals.

“ACPS appreciates the continued support from both The GIANT Company and the community to our schools,” says Jeffrey Blank, Superintendent. “Being able to form partnerships like these are invaluable.”
