ACPS Hosts MATHCOUNTS Hagerstown Chapter Competition

Allegany County Public Schools hosted the Hagerstown Chapter Competition of the MATHCOUNTS Competition Series on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Washington Middle School. MATHCOUNTS is a national competition for middle school mathematics students. Forty-Nine students representing seven middle schools across Allegany and Washington counties participated in the competition.

Northern Middle School from Washington County captured the top team and individual awards, qualifying for the state competition on March 15th at McDonough School in Owings, Mills.

Braddock Middle School also qualified for the state competition by finishing as the runner-up in the team competition. Students who will advance to the state competition from ACPS include: Phil Lee and Joshua Georgeson from Mount Savage Middle School; Maxwell Shelton, Myles Thomas, and Liam Lindsay from Washington Middle School; Kahlan Chojar from Westmar Middle School; and Nolan Pillai, Connor Sheehe, Zachary Llewellyn, and Jacob Cage from Braddock Middle School.
