ACPS Students Show Mathematics Expertise at the 34th ACM Tri-State Math Contest

ACPS students recently participated in the 34th ACM Tri-State Math Contest. This event, sponsored by the LaVale Lions Club, brings top performing 11th grade mathematics students from Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania to ACM for individual and team competition.

ACPS took the top two team awards, with Allegany HS taking 1st place over Mountain Ridge HS by one point in the team competition.

In the individual competition, the top ten finishers were recognized. Sophia Zhang (Mountain Ridge) captured the individual title, with Alexis Johnston (Allegany) finishing third, Nikola Litten (Allegany) finishing 5th, James Chen (Mountain Ridge) finishing sixth, Anna Hilderbrand (Allegany) finishing seventh, and Violet Strozykowski (CCTE) and Emmanuel Kujenga (Allegany) finishing in a tie for ninth. Both Zhang and Johnston received scholarship money to ACM for their top three finish.
