ACPS Receives Donation from Savage Mountain Punk Arts

Allegany County Public Schools is the recipient of a generous donation from the Savage Mountain Punk Arts (SMPA). The donation was presented to the ACPS Board by SMPA President Gerry LaFemina.

SMPA and She’s so Pretty held the first “Hunger Moon Festival” in February to raise awareness and fight food insecurity in Allegany County. The event featured live music, by area bands, food vending, a silent auction, a food drive, and information about community resources to fight hunger in the region. Donations were accepted during the event, with all monetary proceeds going toward paying off student lunch debt in Allegany County.

“I am glad we found out about this problem and could do something about it,” says Gerry LaFemina, Board President of SMPA. It was amazing to see local musicians, artists, and community members work together to do right by local kids.”

Raising well over the current amount of student lunch debt, SMPA and Hunger Moon Festival intend on revisiting the subject at the end of the current school year to pay off any incurred debt again.

“We appreciate the support of, not only Savage Mountain Punk Arts, but that of the communities throughout Allegany County as well,” says Jeffrey Blank, Superintendent of Schools.
