Last week, Administrators from Northeast Elementary School travelled to Washington D.C. to attend the 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Recognition Ceremony. Northeast Elementary was one of six schools in Maryland to receive this honor. A small recognition reception was held in their honor Monday morning at the school. In attendance were Jeffrey Blank, Superintendent of Schools; John Logsdon, Supervisor of Federal Programs; Mike McGowan, Supervisor of Elementary Programs; Jacqueline Enright, Supervisor of Early Childhood / Elementary Education; Staci Noah, Assistant Supervisor of Elementary Education; Robert Farrell, ACPS Board President; Lori Lepley, ACPS Board Member; and the entire Northeast Elementary School staff.
“All of our county schools work hard to provide the best learning environment possible for our students,” says Jeffrey Blank, Superintendent of Schools. “It’s great to be able to celebrate with the staff at Northeast Elementary for this recognition in honor of their success and dedication.”
Northeast Elementary School was nominated as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School within the category of “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools.” This category recognizes schools as being among their state’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students. Northeast Elementary was recognized for their school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments.
"The faculty and staff at Northeast Elementary School is excited to have been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in Washington, D.C. on November 17,” says Daniel Clark, principal of Northeast Elementary School. “I would like to thank our Superintendent, Mr. Jeff Blank, Board President, Mr. Bob Farrell, Board Member Ms. Lori Lepley and all of our elementary supervisors for visiting our school on 11/20 to host a small celebration recognizing our achievement. We appreciate the guidance and support we receive from our district leaders to put us in a position to earn this award. I would like to commend our faculty, staff, students, parents and community members on this accomplishment.”
“As a first-grade team at Northeast Elementary School, we are immensely proud to be part of a school community that has been honored with the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award,” says Natalie Williams. “Our commitment to closing the achievement gap reflects the dedication of our students, parents, and educators working hand in hand. Together, we celebrate not just academic success, but the triumph of inclusivity and support that defines our extraordinary school.”
