Allegany County Public Schools’ Superintendent, Mr. Jeffrey Blank, has announced the appointment of the new Supervisor of Transportation. Mr. Michael Mathews assumed this role effective June 1, 2024.

Over the years, Mathews has shown his dedication to school transportation within Allegany County. He has been an ACPS school bus driver since 2003 and the Assistant Supervisor of Transportation since 2019. Mathews is also a state certified driver instructor for both classroom and behind the wheel instruction.

"I appreciate this opportunity and look forward to working with everyone in improving our transportation services and succeeding in our mission, which is the safe and efficient transportation of our students,” says Mathews. “These are challenging times in school transportation, locally and nationally. We have many dedicated men and women who work hard every day - several of them have done so for years. We are always in need of more drivers and bus assistants.
