Superintendent Appoints New Supervisor of ELA and Reading

Allegany County Public Schools’ Superintendent, Mr. Jeffrey S. Blank, has announced the appointment of the new Supervisor of ELA and Reading. Dr. Sarah Welsh assumed this role on July 1, 2024.

Dr. Welsh has been an employee of Allegany County Public Schools for 21 years. She spent 15 years teaching English and Journalism at Allegany High School, five years as a coordinator, and most recently the Assistant Supervisor of Student Services.

Dr. Welsh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from New York University. She also holds a Master’s of Arts degree in Teaching Secondary English, post-graduate certification in administration and supervision, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Frostburg State University.

“I am grateful for all of the varied experiences I have had in my journey with ACPS thus far,” says Welsh. “I greatly appreciate all that I learned from working with our amazing Student Services staff and am excited for the next chapter with our fabulous ELA and Reading teachers.”
