Elementary Summer Learning Program

We are excited to offer an in-person summer learning program for all students currently registered in Allegany County Public Schools. It's a wonderful opportunity for your child to extend his/her learning and ensure readiness for the next grade level in the 2024-2025 school year. Below you will find detailed information regarding the program. Please review carefully and use the link to complete the registration form by May 10, 2024. If you would rather complete a paper form, please contact your child's school.

When:

June 10 - June 27 (3 week program)

Monday through Thursday each week

Time:

Approximately 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (depending on each school's bus schedule)

Where:

To ensure sufficient staffing, nursing coverage and accessibility, elementary schools will be combined and housed at regional sites. Locations below may be changed based on enrollment numbers.

High School Summer Program

Extended Senior School
Extended Senior School is available to current senior students that are 1-3 credits short of graduation requirements. Students will have the opportunity to continue coursework at their homeschool in order to earn these credits and participate in the Summer 2025 graduation ceremony. Please contact your school guidance counselor for more details. No cost to students.
 
Credit Recovery Summer School
Summer School Credit Recovery is available to any high school student that has failed a course. This program will be held at two locations: Allegany and Mountain Ridge High Schools. Students from Fort Hill will attend Allegany. Students may recover up to 2 credits during Summer 2025. The dates are as follows: June 23-26, June 30-July 2, July7-10, July 14-17, July 21-24. Credit Recovery does not meet on Fridays and will not meet on July 3rd. The time will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day. (Depending on registration and transportation). There is no cost to students, lunch will be provided, and transportation is available.

Original Credit Summer School 
All ACPS students entering grades 9-12 for the 2025-2026 school year.  Courses are open to students who are enrolled for the first time. The following courses are available:
 
There are two sessions. Each course runs for 15 days. Attendance, in person or online, depending on the course, is required.
 
Session 1: June 12-July 2
  • Physical Education: Classes are in-person at Allegany High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Transportation is not provided. Local field trips are taken on Fridays.
  • Art Appreciation: Classes are in-person at Allegany High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Transportation is not provided.
  • Health II: Classes areonline with an instructor from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.  An approximate 1.5 hours of additional required work can be completed on the student's own time.

Session 2: July 7-July 25 

  • Personal Financial Literacy: Classes areonline with an instructor from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00. An approximate 1.5 hours of additional work is required, but can be completed on the student's own time 
  • Health I: Classes are online with an instructor from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An approximate 1.5 hours of additional required work can be completed on the student's own time. 
  • Foundations of Technology: July 7- July 30:Classes are in-person at Allegany High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

 

Cost: Payment can be made through the student’s Paypam account or by check or money order made to ACPS. 108 Washington Street, Cumberland, MD 21502 c/o Trina Simpson. Payment is due by May 31, 2025.  A reduced rate of 50% is offered to students who meet the federal guidelines for the free and reduced meal program.
