59 Mathletes Competed at MATHCOUNTS Regional Competition

CUMBERLAND, Md. — April 20, 2026 —  Allegany County Public Schools hosted the annual Hagerstown Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition at Washington Middle School in late-February. Fifty-nine mathletes from six middle schools in Allegany and Washington Counties participated. 

Hagerstown’s Northern Middle School defended the team title they captured in 2025 and had the top two individual scorers. Mount Savage Middle School’s MATHCOUNTS team, which included Yehoshua Abdur-Raman, Brodie Bucy, Landon Clark, Caitlyn Georgeson, Joshua Georgeson, Emily Kwok, Phil Lee, Lucas Spradlin-Vogelsang, Sterling Stewart and Amelia Whitney, were the runner-up team. The top two teams and top 15 individual scorers competed in the state competition in March at the McDonough School in Baltimore.

Fifeteen individual ACPS state qualifiers included: Phil Lee, Joshua Georgeson and Brodie Bucy from Mount Savage Middle School; Khalan Chojar and Mason Brashear from Westmar Middle School; Evan Moore, Luke Umeroglu, Blake Shives, and Patrick Beaulieu from Washington Middle School; and Zeke Wharton and Lyrik Dudiak from Braddock Middle School.

The Allegany County Board of Education recognized its state-level MATHCOUNTS competitors during its board meeting on April 14.
