CUMBERLAND, Md. — May 14, 2026 — The Allegany County Association of Student Councils (ACASC) recently announced the election of its student officer team and the student member of the Board of Education for the 2026-27 academic year. These student leaders will represent Allegany County Public Schools students, support countywide initiatives and serve as liaisons to the Maryland Association of Student Councils and the Allegany County Board of Education.

The student officers will serve one-year terms from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Each officer must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and 93% attendance, serve as active members of their school-based student councils and participate in ACASC Executive Board meetings, General Assemblies and MASC events throughout the year.

Adaline Carder, a Fort Hill High School student, will serve as the student member of the Allegany County Board of Education. Carder, whose record includes serving as a HOBY Maryland Leadership Conference ambassador and student ambassador for the Maryland Business Roundtable, is prepared to represent student perspectives. She plans to survey student opinion on issues such as schedule proposals and phone policies to communicate those views to board members.

Mountain Ridge High School student Ethan Kwok will serve as president of the student council association. Kwok has served as Mountain Ridge Student Council president since 2024. A graduate of the Leadership Allegany Rising Program, Kwok has led community projects including a presentation at the ACM Youth Summit. As president, he plans to expand student workshops and bring community leaders into meetings to inspire civic engagement.

Aureliah Israel, an Allegany High School student who has served ACASC two consecutive terms as Parliamentarian, steps into the Vice President role with a commitment to developing the next generation of student leaders. Active in school extracurriculars, sports, and community volunteer work, Israel plans to implement her C.L.A.S.S. initiative (Confidence, Legacy, Action, Strength and Service)  to empower Allegany County students to find and use their voices.

Luke Reinhardt, a Braddock Middle School student, will serve as the Second Vice President, which is a liaison between ACASC and middle schools across Allegany County. A recent MASC Convention delegate and graduate of Braddock’s LEAD Summer Camp, Reinhardt was selected to attend a leadership-focused soccer camp in England. He plans to expand student service learning opportunities, track middle school participation, and ensure county-wide voices are heard at the state level.

Allegany High School’s Kristina Kucher joins the executive board as secretary. A co-founder of ACEVA, Kucher has experience keeping records and coordinating with community partners. She plans to gather feedback through surveys and strengthen student involvement.

Penny Bogart, a Mountain Ridge High School student, brings creative communication and media experience to the Public Relations Officer role. A former secretary, section leader and incoming drum major for the Mountain Ridge marching band, Bogart plans to grow ACASC's social media presence on Instagram and launch a Facebook page to keep students, families, and the public informed about events, meetings, and policy updates.
