Superintendent Dr. Michael J. Martirano Announces Adjustments to 2025-2026 School Calendar

Last day of school moved to June 10 and teachers' final workday is June 11.
CUMBERLAND, Md. – Mar. 2, 2026 – Dr. Michael J. Martirano, superintendent of Allegany County Public Schools, has set June 10 as the last day for students, with teachers finishing on June 11.
“As we knew, living in western Maryland means we always need to be agile and nimble when it comes to snow days or inclement weather.” Martirano said. “Thanks to the management of our calendar and our use of virtual learning days, we will meet the State’s requirements for student learning days and hours within the dates previously communicated in our school calendar.”
State law requires students to attend school for at least 18o days. To meet that requirement, ACPS set aside June 8-10 as potential ‘inclement weather’ backup days, allowing the district to now use those days.
On June 10, the last day of school for students, students will be dismissed three hours early. Teachers will use the rest of the day to wrap up end-of-the-year work. Teachers’ last day, June 11, will be used for a principal meeting and additional work time.
The updated calendar was approved on Feb. 3. Families can find the full calendar online at acpsmd.org.
