Maryland Public Information Act Requests

The Board of Education of Allegany County ensures that Allegany County Public Schools complies with the Maryland Public Information Act, Annotated Code of Maryland, General Provisions Article Sections 4-101 through 4-601 when responding to requests for public information and to outline procedures for filing such requests with the school system.

Anyone may request to inspect or obtain copies of public records of the school system, unless the requested records fall into one of the exceptions provided in the MPIA. To make a request for information under the Maryland Public Information Act, submit in writing to:

Under the law, the Allegany County Public School System must respond to requests within 10 business days if and only if the school system believes that it will take more than 10 business days to produce public records.
