Under Maryland law, all employees and volunteers of Allegany County Public Schools (ACPS) are designated as mandated reporters. This legal responsibility extends to all staff members, regardless of their role or capacity within the school system. Mandated reporters include, but are not limited to: teachers, school counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, pupil personnel workers, behavior specialists, administrative assistants, cafeteria staff, custodial and maintenance staff, SROs, and volunteers.
If you work in a school in any capacity, you are a mandated reporter. This designation requires all staff to immediately report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities. Your diligence is essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of every student in our county.
